PHF California State Director Kim Ruiz, and her son Joey, were featured in the Stockton Record.
Read the full story by Joe Goldeen: For most people, raising two boys alone – one of whom has a medical condition that can turn ugly at any time – would be enough of a challenge. But for Ruiz, a third-generation Tracy resident, sharing her experiences and easing the burdens on other families with hydrocephalus children comes naturally.
Thanks to the assistance she has received from her own supportive parents, Ruiz has agreed to become the California’s first state director of the nonprofit Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation Inc., a 3-year-old national organization based in Iselin, N.J., with the goal of raising awareness of this incurable brain condition and providing support to the families and children who are diagnosed with hydrocephalus.

Local mom joins advocacy group against brain condition: State Director Kim Ruiz, who lives in Tracy, explained in a press release her motivation for taking leadership of the new chapter: “PHF has a vision; I share in that vision, and every aspect of it.
“Working with the medical community, individuals and families here in California to help educate, support and spread awareness is what I am here to accomplish.”

PHF Rhode Island State Director Rebecca Minasian and her 5 year old daughter Caitlin, were featured on Providence, Rhode Island’s NBC-TV affiliate.
Read the full story by Barbara Morse Silva: Minasian started a Rhode Island chapter of the Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation. She’s already had two fundraisers, and she is planning a third. The event will raise money for special equipment for other children with this irreversible brain condition and to fund research. Minasian would like to see a cure. After all, she has big dreams for Caitlin.
